Quick Start Guide

Get your Stratux up and running in 5 minutes.

What’s in the Box

  • Stratux unit
  • Two antennas (978 MHz and 1090 MHz)
  • Battery pack
  • USB power cable
  • Suction cups
  • Mini screwdriver
  • Antenna wrenches

Step 1: Attach the Antennas

Screw the antennas onto the matching ports: - 978 antenna → 978 port - 1090 antenna → 1090 port

Hand-tighten only! Over-tightening can damage the internal pigtail cables.

Step 2: Position the Unit

Place Stratux with the logo side facing up (toward the sky). The GPS receiver is on this side and needs a clear view of the sky.

For best results: - Dashboard with clear windshield view - Side window mount using suction cups - Avoid metal roofs or canopies that block GPS

Step 3: Power On

Connect the USB cable from the battery to Stratux.

Lights: - 🔴 Red light = power - 🟢 Green light = system ready

Wait for the green light to turn solid (about 30-60 seconds).

Step 4: Connect Your Device

On your phone or tablet: 1. Open WiFi settings 2. Connect to “stratux” network (no password) 3. Stay connected even if it says “no internet”

Step 5: Open Your EFB

Launch ForeFlight, Avare, FlyQ, or your preferred app. Traffic and weather should appear automatically.

First Flight Tips

GPS Lock

On first boot, GPS may take 10-20 minutes to build its satellite catalog. Do this outside with a clear sky view — not in a hangar.

Traffic

  • 1090 MHz traffic works on the ground
  • 978 MHz traffic requires altitude (line-of-sight to ground towers)

Weather

Weather comes from 978 MHz ground towers. You’ll start seeing NEXRAD and METARs once you’re about 1,000 feet AGL.

Troubleshooting

Problem Solution
No green light Check power cable, ensure 2A power source
No WiFi network Wait 2 minutes, then toggle your device’s WiFi
No GPS fix Move to location with clear sky view
No traffic Check antenna connections, verify at 192.168.10.1
