Connecting Stratux to ForeFlight

ForeFlight is the most popular EFB for Stratux users. Here’s how to set it up.

Basic Connection

1. Power on Stratux — wait for solid green light
2. On your iPad, go to Settings → WiFi
3. Connect to “stratux” network (no password)
4. Stay connected even if it says “No Internet Connection” — tap “Use Without Internet”
5. Open ForeFlight — it should detect Stratux automatically

Verify Connection

In ForeFlight: 1. Go to More → Devices 2. You should see “Stratux” listed as connected 3. Status should show GPS, Traffic, and Weather active

Traffic Setup

ForeFlight displays traffic automatically, but has some limits:

Vertical Filter

ForeFlight only shows traffic within ±3,500 feet of your altitude. This is by design — it declutters the display.

Ownship Setting

If you see your own traffic altitude wrong, or a “ghost” following you: 1. In Stratux (192.168.10.1) → Settings 2. Enter your aircraft’s ICAO hex code in “Ownship ICAO” 3. Or: In ForeFlight, disable “Report GPS Ownship”

Traffic Source Display

To see whether traffic is from 1090 or 978: 1. Stratux Settings → Enable “Traffic source display” 2. Callsigns will show prefix: e = 1090ES, u = UAT

Weather Setup

FIS-B weather flows automatically when airborne. To display: 1. On the map, tap the layers button (stacked squares icon) 2. Enable weather layers: Radar, METARs, etc. 3. Weather will populate once you’re at altitude

AHRS Setup (Synthetic Vision)

ForeFlight supports Stratux AHRS but requires extra steps:

Enable Third-Party AHRS

1. Go to More → Settings → Devices
2. Enable “Enable Synthetic Vision when AHRS is available”

Install Danger Zone Profile

ForeFlight restricts non-Stratus AHRS by default. To enable: 1. Watch this video: ForeFlight AHRS Setup 2. Install the configuration profile as shown 3. Restart ForeFlight

Calibrate AHRS in ForeFlight

ForeFlight has its own AHRS calibration separate from Stratux: 1. With aircraft level, go to Instruments panel 2. Tap the attitude indicator 3. Follow calibration prompts

Troubleshooting

ForeFlight Doesn’t See Stratux

• Verify iPad is connected to “stratux” WiFi
• Toggle WiFi off/on on iPad
• Restart ForeFlight
• Restart Stratux

Traffic Altitude Wrong

• Disable “Report GPS Ownship” in Stratux settings
• This forces ForeFlight to use GPS altitude instead of pressure altitude

No Weather in Flight

• Ensure weather layers are enabled in ForeFlight
• Give it a few minutes at altitude
• Check UAT reception at 192.168.10.1

AHRS Not Working

• Install Danger Zone profile (see video above)
• Calibrate both in Stratux AND ForeFlight
• Check AHRS orientation matches your mounting

ForeFlight Version Compatibility

Newer ForeFlight versions may require newer Stratux firmware. - Check your Stratux version at 192.168.10.1 - If having issues, reflash to latest version: Reflash guide
